The NFL has suspended Chiefs cornerback Eric Warfield for the first four games of the 2005 season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. Earlier this year he pleaded guilty for his third drunk driving offense in four years and checked into a rehabilitation center in Kansas for alcoholism.

Last September, Warfield was picked up in Overland Park, Kansas for speeding and was eventually booked on DUI after his blood alcohol content was .189, which is more than twice the legal limit in Kansas. The afternoon before, Warfield picked off two passes in a loss to the Panthers.

Warfield will miss home games against the Jets and Eagles and divisional road games against the Raiders and Broncos.
