Public transportation systems in Missouri and throughout the country have been put on a heightened state of alert in the wake of the London bus and train bombings. Steve Billings with the State Transportation Department’s Public Transit Division says while riders won’t see much difference, there’ll be increased work for the employees of the systems. And, he says public transit systems will have to compete with other services to get any additional funds to cover the additional work. And, Billings says public transportation systems in Missouri should not expect more money to come from the state to cover any additional security expenses.
