Mark Twain told the story, not necessarily true, of a young boy touring the Holy Land who was told by a guide the story of how Moses had spent forty years leading the Israelites through 300 miles of desert. The boy wasn’t impressed. He told the guide that was nothing; Ben Holladay could have gotten them through in thirty-six hours.
