Even when the Royals win, something seems to go wrong. All-Star first baseman Mike Sweeney was injured in Kansas City’s 5-1 win over Seattle on Wednesday. Sweeney was hit in the left forearm by a pitch in the first inning. Sweeney stayed in to run the bases but left the game an inning later. The injury isn’t believed to be serious, however. X-rays were negative and the team listed Sweeney as day-to-day. Tony Graffanino and Angel Berroa led Kansas City’s 12-hit attack. Graffanino homered and tripled. Berroa had three hits and scored two runs. Runelvys Hernandez allowed just one unearned run in six innings. He improved to 6-9. Mike MacDougal picked up his 11th save.
