A crowd of 1,200 fans showed up to support Lindsay Davenport and the Springfield Lasers in their World Team Tennis season opener. Most of those fans left disappointed, as the Lasers began their 10th season with a 25-12 defeaat the hands of the Sacramento Capitals at Cooper Tennis Complex. The Capitals feature Anna Kournikova.
Meanwhile, Andy Roddick and the St. Louis Aces opened up their season with an exciting 21-18 overtime win against the Philadelphia Freedom.
