Congress is in recess this week, but Senator Jim Talent is busy crossing the state to promote greater use of renewable fuels. He’s talking up the renewable fuels provisions of the Senate version of the Energy Bill, which provides tax incentives for greater use of ethanol and bio-diesel. Talent says the will exists, but there is a need for more gas stations serving renewable fuels. The Senate version of the Energy Bill calls for at least 8-Billion gallons of renewable fuels to be in the nation’s fuel supply each year by the year 2012. Senate and House conferees must iron out their differences before sending the Energy Bill to President Bush.
