The National Education Association convention, in Los Angeles, is winding down – and about 100 delegates from Missouri have spent a busy few days discussing everything from school funding to the No Child Left Behind Act. Greg Jung, President of the Missouri-NEA, says additional spending on education is something parents want – even if it means tax increases. And, he doesn’t believe there will be any need to take from other programs to fund public schools. In another area, Jung says there are serious concerns with the No Child Left Behind Act, especially the testing requirements. He says the Act depends too much on the testing of students to determine what they have learned.
