Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder says Missouri Guardsmen and Reservists have answered the call to serve in the war against terror and it’s time for the average citizen to answer the call to help families of military members. Kinder has signed into law the Missouri Military Family Relief Fund Bill. It will allow taxpayers to check a box on their tax returns to donate money that will go to help military families when financial emergencies arise. Kinder says Missouri’s law is based on one passed in Illinois two years ago. That fund has made $2.9-Million in grants to needy military families.
