The Springfield Cardinals outlasted the Arkansas Travelers with a 9-8 win in Little Rock on Wednesday. Travis Hanson was responsible for the game winning RBI, when he doubled in the top of the ninth to score Andy Schutzenhofer to break an 8-8 tie.

In the bottom of the ninth, reliever Cory Doyne recorded outs against the first two batters he faced, but Erick Aybar, who went 4-for-4, kept the Travelers’ hopes alive with a two-out single. His luck on the base path wasn’t as good as his luck at the plate, though. Cardinals’ Catcher Robinson Cancel ended the game when he threw out Aybar, who tried to steal second.

Cancel and Juan Diaz both hit home runs for Springfield, while Aaron Herr went 3-for-5 with three RBI’s.

The Cardinals are now two games over .500 and are 3-2 on their road trip, which will last nine games.
