The Springfield Cardinals set a franchise record with 20 hits in an 11-4 win over the Arkansas Travelers on Tuesday night in Little Rock. Kevin Estrada led the charge for the Cardinals with four hits, going 4-for-5, while Tyler Minges went 3-for5 with three RBI’s. He missed hitting for the cycle by a double. Juan Diaz blasted a home run estimated at 450 feet and Andy Shutzenhofer also hit a homer. Springfield led 7-0 by the end of the third inning.

On the mound, starting pitcher Randy Leek was about as effective as his teammates. He lasted eight innings and was charged with two runs off six hits to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Springfield’s hopes of clinching a spot in the playoffs were dashed, as Tulsa topped Wichita to win the Texas League’s East Division first-half title. The division winners in each half of the season qualify for the post season.
