The news that a cow in Texas has tested positive for Mad Cow Disease has raised some concerns in this state. The cow was slaughtered in November of last year and the meat did not enter the food system. Steve Taylor, Executive Director of the Missouri Beef Industry Council, believes consumers will still want Missouri beef and that word of the case will not have much of an impact on Missouri’s cattle markets. Trading on the first day after the news showed some sharply lower prices, but some market analysts believe that’s just a natural, early week dip in prices.
