Governor Matt Blunt and representatives of the Missouri Economic Development will soon be on their way to Detroit to meet with automobile industry officials to talk up Missouri as an important auto manufacturing state. Economic Development Director Greg Steinhoff says the team will spend a busy couple of days in the Motor City, meeting with executives from both General Motors and Ford. The meeting was planned before G.M. announced its plans to eliminate 25,000 jobs in the United States by 2008 as part of an effort to revive its struggling operations. Steinhoff says the Governor had made it clear from the start of his administatration that he would work hard to keep Missouri’s auto manufacturing plants up and running.
