The Royals lost their second-straight game on Sunday with an 8-1 loss to the Rangers. Texas starter Kenny Rogers dominated the Royals in seven innings of work. He allowed five hits and one run to win his eighth-straight game and lower his ERA to 1.62—that’s the best in the American League.
Royals’ starter Zack Greinke was chased in the fifth inning after getting charged with seven runs off 10 hits. He fell to 1-7 on the season.
The most interesting turn of events happened after the final out of the game was recorded. Reliever Francisco Cordero, who hit Royals pinch hitter Shane Costa with a pitch, walked towards the Kansas dugout and grabbed his crotch after the game ended. Both dugouts emptied and the umpires were able to step in before the confrontation turned physical.
In the first inning Rogers hit Royals’ center fielder David DeJesus with a pitch. In the third, Greinke hit Alfonso Soriano. After Cordero hit Costa, Royals manager Buddy Bell yelled at him from the dugout.
