Missouri’s Children’s Division Director says he’s very concerned about the death of a foster child in southwest Missouri. State Children’s Division Director Fred Simmens says separate state investigations are underway into the shooting death of 8-year-old Braxton Wooden of Webb City. Little detail has emerged about the shooting death, which occurred when a 14-year-old was at home with Braxton, a foster home in Alba. Simmens says he can say little at this stage of the investigation. Simmens says it’s important for his division to find out exactly what happened, to learn whatever lessons they need to learn and the make sure children in the state’s foster care system are safe. He says three state investigations are underway: a general investigation, an investigation of the home and an internal investigation that will report directly to him.
