The Springfield Cardinals took three out of four from the Midland RockHounds thanks in part to a 5-3 win at Hammons Field on Thursday night. Starting pitcher Jordan Pals didn’t allow a run over six innings to improve to 3-4 on the season.

Mike Jamarillo and Travis Hanson drove in runs for Springfield in the second inning to give Pals a 2-0 lead. Juan Diaz drove in runs in the third and seventh innings to help the Cardinals take a 5-0 lead. Shaun Boyd also drove in a run.

Reliever Anthony Rawson struggled in the ninth inning when he served up a three-run homer to Brian Stavisky to make it 5-3. He allowed another hit and was replaced by Evan Rust, who also gave up a hit. With runners at first and third, Rust got Francis Gomez to line out to end the game.
