The State Treasurer wants the Missouri State Employees Retirement System to immediately get rid of investments in companies and countries with known ties to terrorists. Sarah Steelman wants MOSERS to divest of an $80,000 investment in Arab Bank, which is under investigation by the FBI and the US Treasury Department, and to stop doing business with foreign companies that do business with enemies such as Iran. But MOSERS Executive Director Gary Findlay says his group already has a policy of getting guidance from the US intelligence community about what is acceptable and what is not. But Steelman says waiting for long-overdue guidance from the federal government is not in the best interests of the citizens of this state. Steelman plans to bring up the issue at the next MOSERS board meeting in June. As State Treasurer, she sits on that board.
