The Springfield Cardinals may not be in first place, but they’re playing well against the team that is. The Cardinals topped the Midland RockHounds, which holds the top spot in the Texas League West, 11-6 last night. The 11 runs 19 hits were season highs for Springfield.

The Cardinals led 9-0 in the second inning, before Midland staged a comeback over the final seven innings that fell five runs short. Right fielder Tyler Minges was 3-for-6 with three RBI’s with three runs scored. Third baseman Travis Hanson was 3-for-5 with three RBI’s and two runs.

With the win, the Cardinals improved to 21-24, but remain in last place in the Texas League East.
