The U.S. Senate strikes a deal to end Democratic filibusters of President Bush’s judicial nominees. The Democrats will stop filibustering three of the President’s nominees, but will reserve the right to filibuster in the future. Senator Jim Talent still believes all judicial nominees deserve up or down votes, and thinks filibustering stands in the way of progress. He says filibustering has harmed effort to pass a lot of important legislation, including an Energy Bill. Talent says he’d like to see all delays eliminated so that the Senate can move forward with the people’s business.
