Great Britain badly underestimated the people of the American frontier in the war of 1812. The British had forged an alliance with the Indians in hopes of terrorizing Americans in the West. But the Americans weren”t going to be driven from their land. They defeated the British and Indians, turning a minor battle into a significant frontier campaign. It was known as the Battle of the Sinkhole.
