Another lead, another loss for the Royals. Kansas City blew a three-run lead and lost to the Orioles 7-4 at Kauffman Stadium Wednesday night. They took a 3-0 advantage in the second inning when Matt Diaz drove in a run with a single and John Buck drove in two with a double. But, similar to other games this season, the Royals not only gave up the lead, but they gave it up almost immediately.

In the 3rd Melvin Mora tied the game at 3-3 when he launched a three-run homer off starter D.J. Carrasco, who was brought up from Triple-A Omaha last week. it up wit ha three run homer, Javy Lopez made it 4-3 Baltimore with an RBI double in the fifth. It remained tied until Javy Lopez drove in Rafael Palmeiro with a double in the fifth inning.

In the sixth, with one on and two outs, Carrasco was relieved by Andy Sisco, who gave up a home run to David Newhan on the fourth pitch he threw. Melvin Mora was next up and he his second home run of the day to make it 7-3.

Tony Graffanino drove in a run with a single in the seventh inning, but the Royals didn’t get any closer. Carrasco got the loss, falling to 0-1.
