The Kansas City Chiefs began off-season practice yesterday and they did so without wide receiver Johnny Morton. And this was the Chiefs’ idea, not Morton’s.

The team wants him to restructure his contract but so far Morton has been unwilling to do so. If he doesn’t budge, the Chiefs plan on releasing him. He’s expected to make $3 million in 2005.

In 2005, Morton caught 55 passes for 795 yards and three touchdowns. 2005 was the best in his three-season career with the Chiefs.
