The Missouri Quality Jobs Act – a proposal to create, attract, and retain good jobs – has cleared the Legislature and is on its way to Governor Matt Blunt’s desk. The proposal, which was originally put forward by the Governor, offers incentives to companies that offer basic health insurance for new employees in new jobs and pay at least 50 percent of health insurance premiums for all employees. In addition, businesses will only qualify for these incentives if the new jobs created pay employees at or above the county average wage.
