The Springfield Cardinals made things interesting on Tuesday night. After taking a 5-0 lead in the second inning, Springfield had to hold on for dear life and rally in the 12th inning to top San Antonio 9-6.San Antonio chipped away at the Springfield lead through the game. Jon Nelson tied the game a 6-6 in the ninth inning with a two run homer off Cardinals closer Josh Kinney, who blew his first save in ten attempts. It stayed 6-6 until the top of the 12th when Springfield put two runners on base. Tyler Minges grounded to third and Shaun Boyd scored from third to break the tie. San Antonio third baseman Jesus Guzman threw the ball wildly to third and Andy Shutzenhofer also scored on the play. Later in the inning Travis Hanson drove in a run with a sac fly. The victory secured a winning road trip.
