Just days remain in the legislative session, and Governor Matt Blunt is watching closely to see that some of his key agenda items get through the General Assembly. They include the School Funding Formula, the Quality Jobs Act, and the Sales Tax Holiday. But, the Governor is very pleased with what has been accomplished, so far. In fact, he calls the current session of the General Assembly one of the most successful legislation sessions in recent Missouri history. On the “already accomplished” list: litigation reform and workers’ compensation reform. Blunt says these issues were complex – and he praises lawmakers for dealing with them so early in the session. He also applauds budget negotiators for coming up with a balanced budget that puts additional money into education.
