Springfield Cardinals starting pitcher Randy Leek suffered his first defeat of the 2005 season, as the San Antonio Missions topped Springfield 4-2 on Sunday. Leek dropped to 2-1, by giving up four runs off nine hits over seven innings.

San Antonio scored a run in each of the first three innings to build a 3-0 lead. In the fourth inning Springfield scored twice to cut the lead to 3-2. Reid Gorecki drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to score Travis Hanson. Later in the inning Papo Bolivar scored from third when Dan Molan was caught in a rundown.

That was the final tally of the day for the Cardinals, which dropped to 13-17 on the season.
