Statehood was just around the corner. The territory had been given permission to draft its constitution. The first thing to do was elect the delegates to the constitutional convention. After their election these men would have just thirty-two days to draw up a document which would guide Missouri in its early days of statehood. This is the distinguished group which drew up Missouri’s first constitution.
