Yet another Missouri basketball player may be transferring. Jeffery Ferguson is expected to leave the program, according to head coach Quin Snyder. Snyder told the St. Joseph News-Press that he expects Ferguson to be closer to his home of Toronto before the 2005-2006 season begins.

If Ferguson does transfer, he’ll be the second Tiger to do so since Mizzou’s season ending 75-70 loss to DePaul in the first round of the NIT. Sophomore guard Spencer Laurie, who also missed most of the season with injuries, transferred two weeks ago.

Ferguson was a part of Missouri’s 2001 recruiting class, which was expected to be Snyder’s best. If Ferguson leaves, not one player from that class will have finished his career at Missouri. Robert Whaley, who was Ferguson’s high school teammate in Benton Harbor, Michigan, had has scholarship offer rescinded while he was being tried for rape. Duane John transferred after to New Mexico St. after his freshman season and Najeeb Echols transferred to Illinois St. after his sophomore season.

Ferguson played in just four games last season before injuring his knee and missing the rest of the 2004-2005 campaign. He red-shirted in 2003-2004, when visa problems kept him in his native Canada.
