Missouri’s next U.S. Senate race is still more than a year and a half away, but Senator Jim Talent is already building up quite a war chest for his anticipated re-election bid. A Federal Election Commission report for April 15th shows the Talent for Senate committee raised more than $1.3-Million during the January 1st to March 31st election period – and more than $2.1-Million for the election cycle-to-date. In addition, the committee had more than $1.35-Million cash on hand at the close of the reporting period. It will likely be sometime next year before Talent formally announces his intention to seek re-election. No Democrats have yet emerged as potential challengers – though several names are being discussed by political observers.
