The St. Louis Cardinals are expected to place reliever Cal Eldred on the 15-day disabled list today and replace him with Jimmy Journell.The Cardinals will reportedly announce what illness Eldred has suffered for the past two weeks. Eldred has been in a St. Louis area hospital since leaving the team before Tuesday’s game against Cincinnati.The Cardinals initially called Eldred’s condition an upper respiratory condition. Eldred said he was exhausted after a light workout on April 4, and stayed in his hotel room rather than join the team at their season opener the following day.
