A new way to pay for Missouri’s public schools has gotten a preliminary endorsement from the State Senate. But finding the additional money needed will be a gamble. State Senators support a change in the school foundation formula, but some Senators wonder where the state will get the money for the additional $700-Million the formula will send to schools. The sponsor of the bill thinks pro-business legislation passed this year will jazz up the economy enough to provide natural tax income that will pay all those bills.
