Tommy Polley has traded his horns for wings. The free agent linebacker left the Rams on Monday to sign a one-year deal with the Ravens. Polley, who is a Baltimore native, was drafted by the Rams in the second round out of Florida St. in 2001 and averaged 72.5 tackles per season in his four years in St. Louis. Last year he made 78 tackles with two sacks.

He’s expected to start along perennial Pro-Bowler Ray Lewis, as the Ravens switch from a 3-4 set to a 4-3.

The Rams also made their acquisition of defensive back Michael Hawthorne official on Monday. He agreed in principle to a one-year deal last week and officially signed the contract yesterday.
