Missouri’s junior U.S. Senator says President Bush’s big cuts in funding for the war on drugs should not stand. The President wants to kill $634-Million in grants to state and local police departments and cut funding for anti-drug work in high-intensity trafficking areas from $226-Million to $100-Million. That’s a bid deal for Missouri, which had more than 2,700 meth lab seizures last year. Senator Jim Talent says the plan is wrong and he thinks the money will be put back into the federal budget during the appropriations process.
