A 3-year-old Independence girl who left home one night this week to go for a late night walk is back with her family. Jacalynn VandeHaar was taken into custody after she was found on a street corner, holding her puppy. The Missouri Children’s Division has now returned the youngster to her parents. The child’s mother, Jennifer VandeHaar, attended a court hearing today that would decide whether Jacalynn would get to go home. Jennifer says she believes Jacalynn left the house because the dog needed to be walked. The incident is still being investigated by police and state officials.
