The Rams signed free agent defensive back Michael Hawthorne to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Hawthorne spent the last two seasons with the Packers, making 36 tackles and breaking up seven passes in 2004. He started for Green Bay when Mike McKenzie held out, but was moved into a backup role when he returned.
Before that, he spent three seasons with the Saints, who drafted him in 2000.
