Medicaid would be greatly scaled back under a bill moving through the House, and likely soon to be on Governor Matt Blunt’s desk. Sponsor Jodi Stefanick of Manchester says the Legislature must rein in the growth of Medicaid. But top House Democrat Jeff Harris of Columbia cries foul, saying Blunt promised not to cut Medicaid eligibility during his campaign for Governor. Republican leadership intends to push through the Senate bill as is, so it can be sent directly to the Governor. They have succeeded in defeating seven amendments sponsored by Democrats. Debate resumes today.
