You’d be hard-pressed to find very many teams who have scored seven runs in a single inning and lost that particular ball game. That’s exactly what happened to the Cardinals Monday afternoon, as they faced the Mets in Jupiter, Florida.

Trailing 8-3 in the sixth, St. Louis exploded for a seven-spot, thanks in large part to Scott Rolen’s grand slam, to take a 10-3 lead, but New York took the lead with three in the top of the seventh. Former Cardinal Miguel Cairo broke a 10-10 tie with an RBI single. They got insurance by adding two more in the ninth.

Matt Morris completed four innings and allowed five runs—four earned—off seven hits and a walk.
