The NCAA tournament run for former Saint Louis University head coach Lorenzo Romar is over. His top-seeded Washington Huskies fell to fourth seeded Louisville 93-79 in Albuquerque. Romar spent three seasons at SLU and took them to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Conference USA Tournament in 2000. That was his first season. That was followed up two-straight seasons out of post-season play. He was 51-44 at Saint Louis.

Two of Mizzou’s conference mates are gone. 6th seeded Texas Tech, which crushed MU 78-62 on January 19, lost to 7th seeded West Virginia 65-60. WVU will face Louisville on Saturday. Oklahoma State, which had the second seed in Albuquerque fell 79-78 to 3rd seeded Arizona in Chicago. MU dropped a 78-68 decision to the Cowboys on January 11.

There’s yet another MU connection in last night’s play. Missouri’s annual Braggin’ Rights rival, top-seeded Illinois kept their season alive by beating 12th seeded Wisconsin-Milwaukee 77-63. IU topped MU 70-64 on December 22. They’ll face Arizona on Saturday.
