The Moberly Area Community College men’s basketball team advanced to the Final Four of the National Junior College Athletics Association’s men’s basketball tournament Wednesday with a 73-65 win over Iowa Western Community College. The Greyhounds trailed 34-32, before out-scoring IWCC 41-31 over the final 20 minutes of the game. Maurice Gibbs led MACC in scoring with 18 points, while Kevin Gant had 13 rebounds to go with his 13 points. Moberly will face Chipola College of Florida in the semifinals on Friday. With a win, they’ll advance to the championship game.

The Moberly women bounced back from their opening round loss in the NJCAA’s women’s tournament, by beating Georgia Perimeter College 71-57 in the loser’s bracket Wednesday. MACC jumped out to a 39-23 lead in the first half en route to their 28th win of the season. Mesha Williams paced the Lady Greyhounds with 27 points, while Nikya Hughes added 21. They were the only two players on the team in double-digit scoring. They also accounted for 29 of the team’s 51 rebounds—Hughes had 15 and Williams added 14. MACC will play on Friday, but their opponent hasn’t been determined.
