The Class 2 Boys Basketball Final features a physical, low scoring contest between the Marionville Comets and the St. Vincent Indians of Perryville. Defense won out in the end, as Marionville upped its record on the season to 27-3, capturing the title 35-30. Indians’ guard Alex Armbruster led all scorers with 18 points – accounting for more than half his team’s total. Only three other players scored for St. Vincent. Guard Paden Grubbs scored nine points to lead the Comets, who win their second State Championship. The Comets previously won the title in 1982. In his post-game comments, Coach Ted Young acknowledged his team didn’t play as well as it had most of the season, but he added there’s something to be said for being lucky at this time of year, and his team took advantage of the opportunities. St. Vincent is a runner-up in its first trip to the Show-Me Showdown.
