CLASS 3 BOYS SEMIFINALS

CHARLESTON 57 HOGAN PREP ACADEMY 41

One of the most recognizable teams at the Show-Me Showdown year in and year out is Charleston—including this year’s trip, they’ve advanced to the final four 16 times and have won nine state titles. On Friday they’ll try to make it 10. Charleston got the best of Hogan Prep Academy 57-41, but the score is a lot closer than the game actually was. They built a 32-18 lead by halftime and extended it to a 53-32 advantage by the third quarter. Jamarcus Williams was 7-of-9 from the floor and hit all six of his free throws for a game-high 20 points. Greg Kearney had 15 points to lead Hogan, which fell to 18-9. Charleston improved to 22-9.

LUTHERAN NORTH 47 VERSAILLES 42

Versailles was making just its first trip to the Show-Me Showdown since 1947—the first and only time they’d ever advance. Lutheran North, however was not particularly concerned with Versailles’ history and sent them away 47-42 in the Class 3 semifinals. Lutheran’s defense was close to perfect for two straight quarters, holding Versailles to six points in the second and three points in the third. They led 32-21 after three quarters before Versailles exploded for 21 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. Rolandis Woodland paced Lutheran with 13 points, while Andy Campbell led Versailles with 11. Lutheran North is looking for its second state title—they won it all in 2002.
