CLASS 1 GIRLS SEMIFINALS

CHADWICK 56 DeKALB 39

To say Chadwick’s second half defense was tough on Thursday would be a tremendous understatement. They advanced to the Class 1 Girls championship game with a 56-39 win over DeKalb in the semifinals. After trailing 34-24 at the half, the defense clamped down and allowed just five points in the second half. No, that’s not a misprint. In fact, Chadwick shut DeKalb out 15-0 in the third period alone. Jessi Peirce led Chadwick in scoring with 15 points, while Cassie Lewis chipped in with 13 and Stacy Sisco added 10. Chadwick improved to 26-4 on the season and DeKalb fell to 25-4.

NEW FRANKLIN 32 LEETON 24

If you were looking for a high-scoring affair, then you probably should have skipped the semifinal match up between New Franklin and Leeton. New Franklin grabbed a spot in the championship game by coming away with a 32-24 victory. New Franklin’s Lindsay Pollock was the only player in double figures with 10 points, as her team improved to 25-5. This is their 16th trip to the post season since 1982, but just their first trip to Columbia. Leeton dropped to 27-3.
