JEFFERSON 65 BELL CITY 50

Jefferson High School improved to 30-1 and moved on to the Class 1 Boys championship game by knocking off defending champion Bell City 65-50. The score was tied 39-39 after three quarters, when Jefferson exploded in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bell City 26-11 over the final eight minutes of the game. Bell City was trying to win their third state title in four years. Cody Schieber led the way for Jefferson with 16 points, while Cody Jenkins pitched in 15. Jefferson will be going for their second state title in school history. In 2000, they beat Billings High School 70-55 to win their first.

NORTH SHELBY 69 ST. ELIZABETH 64

North Shelby’s joy is equal to St. Elizabeth’s pain today. North Shelby found themselves down 20-9 after the first quarter of their Class 1 semifinal game and they trailed 34-20 at the half. They turned up the heat in the third quarter, by outscoring St. Elizabeth by eleven. They took the fourth quarter 13-10 to force overtime. North Shelby won that battle 16-11 to grab a 69-64 win. They were led in scoring by Scott Ratliff and Cody Stoneburner who had 21 points apiece. St. Elizabeth got 17 points from Nick Voss in the loss and dropped to 22-9.
