The Medicaid reform bill has cleared the State Senate and has been sent to the House – a measure that curtails spending on the Medicaid program, eliminates some people from it, and eliminates some services the prgoram now provides. Sponsor Chuck Purgason of Caulfield says it’s a measure created by steadily rising costs and abuses of the system. A special legislative committee will be formed to work after the session on weeding out abuses, fraud, and wasteful spending in medicaid. Opponents of the bill say that should have been done before the Legislature started kicking people off the Medicaid rolls. The House will take up the bill after the Spring break.
