Four weeks of work are over. Now, a proposal to refigure the way the state pays for its public schools goes to both chambers of the Legislature. The Joint Committee on Education has hammered out a concept, but not all members like the details of a new proposed formula based on a minimum expenditure per pupil. Regardless, the product of the work now goes to the education committees in both chambers for review. The Senate Education Committee could take up a bill as early as this week.
