The Chiefs have secured more help for their defense, by signing free agent safety Sammy Knight of the Dolphins. Knight has put up steady numbers in each of his eight NFL seasons. According to stats on the NFL’s website, Knight has averaged 95 tackles and four interceptions per season. Last year, he was right on the number with 96 tackles and four picks. Knight played the first six seasons of his career with the Saints and the last two with the Dolphins.

Earlier this week, the Chiefs signed linebacker Kendrell Bell, formerly of the Steelers, to a seven year contract. They’re trying to improve upon a defense that hasn’t ranked higher than 29th in each of the last three seasons.

The Rams and free agent defensive back Michael Stone agreed to terms on Friday. He had just three tackles on defense with the Arizona Cardinals last season, but he is expected to help St. Louis in an area that is in need of a spark—special teams. He led Arizona with 17 special teams tackles last season.
