Former Cardinal first baseman Mark McGwire will be required to testify at a Congressional hearing exploring steroid use in baseball. McGwire was originally invited to speak at the hearing, but declined. Now he and 10 others have been subpoenaed to appear at the March 17 hearing in Washington. Major League Baseball Players Association will try to challenge the subpoenas. Jose Canseco, Jason Giambi, Frank Thomas, Sammy Sosa and Curt Schilling were also subpoenaed. Barry Bonds, who has been in the middle of the steroid allegations, was not called to testify.
