The UMKC women’s basketball team has just ten wins this season, but some of those wins are coming at precisely the right time. The seventh-seeded Kangaroos, and their 10-19 record, have advanced to the Finals of the Mid-Continent Conference championship game after knocking off third-seeded Oakland 56-53 in Tulsa. They never trailed in the contest. Sammi Knapic and Liz Obrecht scored 13 points apiece to lead the Kangaroos in scoring. With the win UMKC, becomes the first seven-seed to advance to the finals, where they’ll face four-seed Oral Roberts Tuesday afternoon at 2:30.
