UMKC wrapped up their regular season with an 80-79 win over Valparaiso in Kansas City. Brandon Temple’s three pointer with seven seconds to go gave them the win. UMKC took a 2-0 lead in the first minute of the game when Carlton Aaron hit two free throws. The Kangaroos didn’t lead again until Temple’s game-winning shot. Temple led four UMKC players in double-digit scoring with 20 points. Aaron had 19 points, Quinton Day had 16 and Mike English scored 15. It was the final game of the regular season and the final home game for English, Aaron, Temple and Corey Starks, who are all seniors. UMKC is 16-11 and finished 12-4 in the Mid-Continent Conference, one game behind Oral Roberts, which took the regular season crown. The Kangaroos are the 2nd seed in the MCC tournament and will face 7th-seeded Oakland in Tulsa on Saturday.
