The NCAA released the new Academic Progress Reports, which gives each sports program a score based on their projected graduation rate. The new system will penalize sports programs that fall below the score of 925. That score indicates that a particular sport is projected to graduate 50 percent of the players on the roster. Five Division I programs in the state of Missouri could face the new penalties if their numbers don’t improve. The teams are: MU’s volleyball team (827), SEMO’s men’s basketball team (841), UMKC’s soccer team (877) and softball team (829) and SMS’ men’s soccer team (864). All of SLU’s teams met the 925 requirement. Those teams could lose scholarships as early as next year if they don’t meet the minimum.
