The first day of full-squad practices got underway yesterday for the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida. Cardinals’ outfielder Larry Walker didn’t practice on Wednesday, nursing a tender back. He told reporters yesterday that his absence was just “precautionary”. Walker missed almost half of the 2004 season with back problems….In Surprise, Arizona, the Royals have already named the starting pitcher for their Spring Training opener. Brian Anderson will get the start against the Rangers next Thursday.
